The Planning Division is led by John P. Spoden, AICP as the Director of Community Development. We are responsible for the long range planning, zoning, planned land use development, economic development, and meeting the Village established guidelines for the appearance of commercial and industrial properties including facades, landscaping and signs.

Our residents regularly work with the Planning Division to check lot coverage as well as heights and size of new structures at their home. Lot coverage needs to be checked for all driveways, patios, private sidewalks, swimming pools, firepits and some retaining walls. You will need to provide a copy of your plat of survey for accurate calculations. You can contact us on-line or by phone at (847) 918-2028.

The Planning Division provides Staff support to the Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals and Appearance Review Commission.
