In recognition of history and culture, Mayor Johnson has shared a statement and official proclamation for the record regarding Black History Month. This is the first step toward continued recognition of heritage months in Libertyville.

In support of the month, we encourage residents and visitors alike to engage in additional resources for education and celebration:
-Cook Memorial Public Library has curated a list of recommended books categorized by reader age.
-The National Educators Association features a list of educational tools for grades K through 12.
-The National Museum of African American History and Culture is hosting numerous free remote events for kids and adults.
-The National Parks Service has created a day-by-day calendar for exploration of Black history and achievement.
-The Library of Congress hosts a national resource website cataloguing events and resources for the month.
-The White House has issued a national proclamation recognizing Black History Month.
